Na het installeren van de proefversie van de kwaadaardige Anti-Spyware software kan deze beginnen met het tonen van irritante pop-up advertenties, en wanneer u probeert om uw computer te scannen op spyware, is alles wat deze kwaadaardige Anti-Spyware doet, u vertellen om de licentie van de software te kopen. Als een gebruiker de aanbeveling opvolgt kan dit tot gevolg hebben dat de software zijn anti-virus en anti-spywaretoepassingen verwijdert. Hij kan ook kwaadaardige code afleveren direct naar de machine van de gebruiker en zijn eigen spyware installeren. Na installatie kan het zeer moeilijk worden om dit soort software te verwijderen, wat kan leiden to een complete her-installatie van de computer.
